Civil and Environmental Engineer
Power Engineers, Inc.
Hailey, Idaho
Full Time: June, 1991 - June, 1993 and July, 1995-September,
1996
Part Time: June, 1993 - July, 1995
Significant Projects:
-
Lead project engineer for an 8-county solid waste landfill near Twin Falls,
Idaho. Performed siting and permitting studies. Performed geotechnical
analyses for composite liner design. Prepared hydrologic monitoring plans.
Designed and installed deep monitoring wells in basalt. Performed slope
stability analyses for the landfill cell sidewalls.
-
Designed holding ponds for containment of geothermal waste water in southern
California. The design was a double containment system with leak detection
system, consisting of a geosynthetic grid between two geomembrane liners.
-
Performed engineering design, environmental permitting, and construction
inspection services for a transmission line in western Washington that
crossed a river and several miles of wetland area. The five year long project
included the installation of an 80-ft long vibratory caisson in the middle
of the Snohomish River. Construction in the wetland areas was performed
using helicopters to minimize environmental impacts.
-
Lead project engineer for design of an $8 million industrial wastewater
treatment plant and potable water distribution system for Micron Technologies,
Inc., a major semiconductor manufacturer in Boise, Idaho. Headed a team
of civil, mechanical, environmental, and instrumentation engineers and
drafters during this 6-month long project.
-
Project manager for the design of a new fire water, potable water, and
process water distribution system for a manufacturing facility. The project
included a filtration and chlorination system and a new pumphouse building.
-
Performed an environmental assessment for the City of Boise for the siting
of a new geothermal wastewater injection well. Reviewed results of a groundwater
modeling study and worked with a group of experts to determine the best
site for the injection well to maximize repressurization of the aquifer
while minimizing thermal impacts to nearby pumping wells.
-
Performed geotechnical investigations and foundation design for many transmission
line, substation, and industrial projects across the United States.
